Cliffe Equine is part of the Cliffe Veterinary Group. Our Equine Vets provides high quality care to horses throughout East Sussex and much of West Sussex.
Our modern purpose built Equine Clinic is based in the heart of East Sussex in view of the beautiful South Downs. The Clinic is located at Harbens Farm in Laughton, near Lewes. The Clinic has a large operating theatre for all equine surgery (including orthopaedics and colic surgery) and hospitalisation boxes. We also offer a full range of diagnostic facilities, including digital radiography.
Our Equine Practice offers a complete equine veterinary service for all horses and ponies, from competition horses to family pets and donkeys. We provide comprehensive veterinary care, from routine health to a 24-hour emergency service.
Adjacent to our Equine Clinic is Harbens Equine Care Centre. The Equine Care Centre provides a comprehensive service for horses, whether recovering from injury or surgery or just needing a rest after a competitive season. Facilities include equine treadmill, horse walker and hydrotherapy spa. With direct input from Cliffe Equine a complete treatment programme can be drawn up and to achieve rapid recovery. With veterinary surgeons on site, daily veterinary care can be given and injuries closely monitored. The Equine Care Centre also provides excellent horse transport to and from our Clinic.
We offer a 24 hour referral service, especially for lameness and medical problems, with vets who have achieved a degree of specialisation in these fields. Cliffe Equine also offer a complete stud medicine service and is a BEVA registered practice for artificial insemination (AI) for fresh, chilled and frozen semen.
The Practice has two qualified Equine Dental Technicians (one vet and one nurse) who provide a high quality equine dentistry service. We carry out routine dental care and more advanced dental procedures. If required, we can sedate your horse to enable any work to be carried out safely and to an excellent standard. This service is also offered to clients who are not registered with the Practice.

In addition to our usual services we offer a scheme where one of our equine vets will be working within a visit zone. This means that on a regular day each week you will be able to book a visit for routine work within that zone and only pay £9.50 for your visit. So with a little planning you can save money on your veterinary bill.
Zone visits should be booked at least 24 hours in advance. Specific times for visits cannot be guaranteed, however we will always try to accommodate your request for a morning or afternoon visit when possible. Clients MUST telephone the clinic between 8.30 and 9am on the day to be informed of the designated time of their visit. Our aim is to assign the same 2 vets to each area on the same day every week and therefore, keep some continuity in the routine health care of your horse.
