Internal Medicine
Horses can suffer from a wide variety of medical conditions, such as recurrent colic, weight loss, respiratory disease, anaemia (low red cell count), liver disease, neurologic disease and Cushings disease.
Early detection and accurate diagnosis means that many of these conditions can often be treated successfully. More chronic ailments can now be managed successfully. These more complex medical problems often require additional diagnostic tests to establish the exact diagnosis and the best treatment.
Our vets have the expertise and equipment to perform these advanced diagnostic investigations.
At Cliffe Equine can perform procedures such as:
We have a full in house laboratory facility run by our laboratory technician and, if necessary, we can obtain blood results within hours. (link to lab)
Our Vet Ed Jose-Cunilleras has a special interest in equine Internal Medicine and he has achieved the highest level of qualification in this field (Diploma in Equine Internal Medicine). After he graduated, he spent 7 years at Ohio State University developing his skill in equine medicine.
Referrals and second opinions are always welcomed. If you would like a second opinion please call the office and talk to one of the vets. Before a second opinion can be given we will contact your veterinary surgeon (it is essential that we obtain your horse’s medical records first).
