Dogs
Dogs require annual vaccinations. To begin the course, the vaccination used at Cliffe can be given as early as 6 weeks old. We then repeat this at 10weeks of age and 2 weeks after this your puppy is fully covered to start mixing with other dogs.
It is then necessary to vaccinate your dog every 12months from then through life.
We routinely vaccinate against Distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza and leptospirosis.
Kennel cough is an intanasal vaccination (it is administered by squirting up the nose). Most reputable kennels require your dog to have the kennel cough vaccination administered at least 72hours before going in. The vaccine used at Cliffe vets lasts for 12 months.
Rabies vaccination can be given from as young as 12 weeks old. Please refer to the PET travel scheme page for further information
Cats
The initial vaccination course for cat flu and enteritis, used at Cliffe can be given as early as 9 weeks old. A second vaccination is required 3-4weeks later and then 2 weeks after this your cat is fully covered for flu and enteritis to go outside.
We also recommend vaccinating your cat against Feline Leukemia. This can be given as early as 8 weeks old but it is usually administered with the flu and enteritis vaccine at 9weeks. A second vaccination is required 3-4weeks later and then 2 weeks after this your cat is fully covered to go outside.
A single annual booster is required for Flu, enteritis and Leukemia.
Rabies vaccination can be given from as young as 12 weeks old. Please refer to the PET travel scheme page for further information
