Surgery
Orthopaedics and soft tissue

We provide a 24/7 emergency out of hours surgical service for your horse should this be necessary. Anaesthesia is always provided by an experienced anaesthesist who will use extensive monitoring equipment (including ECG and direct blood pressure monitors).
Our main surgeon is Egbert Willems, who completed a three years residency at Glasgow University Vet School where he received specialist training in equine surgery and lameness. He obtained his Certificate in Equine Surgery (Orthopaedics) in 2006.
With videoarthroscopy (key hole surgery), synovial resectors, oscillating bone saw and AO/ASIF equipment we are able to undertake a wide variety of bone and joint surgery.
We are also fully equipped and to carry out a wide variety of soft tissue surgery, including colic and upper airway surgery.
Standing procedures (such as molar extraction, sinoscopy, wound management and some eye surgery) will be performed in our examination suite equipped with stocks.
Occasionally we will invite consultant surgeons to perform surgical procedures requiring specialist expertise or equipment.
