Karl Holliman

Veterinary Surgeon

Karl Holliman - Clinical Director
Karl Holliman BVM&S CertEP AVP MRCVS Clinical Director

Karl graduated from The Royal School of Veterinary Studies in 1991, Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine(BVM&S) (certEP) and is a member of the Royal Collage of Veterinary surgeons (MRCVS). Having joined the team back in 1994, Karl has developed a passion for equine dentistry as well as seeing his regular clients out on the road. More recently he spends most of his time at the hospital extracting teeth and dealing with more advanced dental procedures. As well as his passion for dentistry, Karl spends many months of the year completing the process of Artificial Insemination (AI), and the procedures that follow this.

In addition to his interests in all things Equine, including dentistry and stud work, Karl is also a keen cyclist, back in 2019 he cycled the length of Britain which is over 900 miles to raise money for the cancer research UK, he also has a passion for rugby and when he isn’t on call over the weekend he might be found at Twickenham Stadium!

Part of the Cliffe Veterinary Group since 1994 and a Director since 1999, Karl  has driven Cliffe Equine through much change and development.

An Advanced Practitioner in Equine Practice, his main interests are all aspects of equine surgery, stud work and advanced equine dentistry. Not only is he a qualified equine dental technician, but he is also a lecturer and examiner in equine dentistry for The British Equestrian Veterinary Association (BEVA), and a founding member (and chairman) of the Equine Veterinary Dental Association (EVDA). Karl recently joined the IVC Evidensia Equine Clinical Board, keeping him at the forefront of decisions made for the greater good of our clients.

Karl’s time is split between advanced dental work in the hospital, his ambulatory visits and he covers our Thursday, Zone 4 visits.

Outside of work Karl is a keen cyclist, having completed the Land's End to John o' Groats iconic bike ride (the length of the country!) back in 2019 raising £4,500 for cancer research.

Karl is also a keen singer and earlier this month performed Handel's 'Messiah' with the English Concert Chorus at the Royal Festival Hall. A truly magical Christmas experience.
