Lameness and Sports Medicine

Our orthopaedics team, led by board certified specialist in Equine Sports Medicine, Egbert Willems, offers full lameness, poor performance and sports medicine investigations to include spinal injuries of the neck, back and pelvis. We offer a full range of regenerative medicine such as

• Shockwave therapy
• Class IV laser
• Mesotherapy
• PRP
• IRAP and stem cell treatment

We work closely with farriers, physiotherapists, and other musculoskeletal practitioners to ensure a holistic approach.

After an initial assessment at your yard our vets may advise further investigation at our hospital facilities in Laughton, Lewes. Our facilities and equipment at the hospital mean we can offer more comprehensive investigations in-house. Some investigations can take longer than one day therefore it might be necessary for your horse to stay with us overnight to complete a diagnosis and/ or treatment.

Our team of vets start each morning with ward rounds, discussing new and ongoing cases, which allows professional sharing and helps us to design the best possible plan of treatment. Our veterinary and nursing team will keep you informed of your horses’ condition and progress throughout their stay with us and detailed discharge instructions will be given.
